Midnight in the Garden of Good is Karen Klages' story about photographer Julie Collins and her work. A librarian by day, she does her digital photographs of plant life from her yard on a flat bed scanner.

She arranges the flowers and then cuts out all light with by placing a black velvet cloth over the scanner, which is used by the artist as the method of photography. More info on Julie Collins can also be found on jaywhysea.com. Also from H&G this week:
