apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Home and Garden Roundup: 08.05.07

2007-08-06-tbsshow.jpg The lead story in H&G this week was As Seen on TV about the Chicago style interiors in the sitcom My Boys.

The show is about a sports writer living in Chicago and H&G spoke with both the set designer to find out what they included in the interiors to make it typically Chicago (fireplaces, molding, wood floors, built-ins) and a local newspaper writer to find out how well they did on the authenticity scale (pretty good, but where is the gaming console?).

Has anyone seen the show? Did they get Chicago apartment style right?

Kirei board is fantastic. So gorgeous in real life. Incredibly interesting and dynamic, but still organic and earthy.

I didn't see the show, but one area that Hollywood frequently screws up local style is in the kitchen. So. Cal. is loaded with mortar and tile counter tops and they use them often in "middle class" Father Knows Best homes. I have never known this to be typical anywhere in the Midwest.
