Hoop Dreams is Barbara Mahany's "DIY Daredevil" entry, the latest in a series where H&G staffers give a class a go and share the details. Barbara took an embroidery class at The Needle Shop in Bucktown and gives it a very positive review - it sounds like she'll be back.

Taught by Caitlin Thomas, the three-hour drop-in class ($65) is open to any level student and no equipment is needed. You just show up and the stop provides everything. If you've been thinking about trying embroidery, all your excuses not to are gone...no reservations, equipment, or previous experience needed.
