Top Design on Bravo. The interior design version of Project Runway is coming in January 2007 and the key participants have been announced.

The host is Todd Oldham and the lead judge is Jonathan Adler. Kelly Wearstler and Elle Decor Editor in Chief Margaret Russell are the other judges. So...what do you think?

I'm so incredibly excited about another Bravo competition show. Bravo is the only network where the competition seems to be based on talent, not the ability to down kangaroo balls or wear the least amount of clothing.

Todd Oldham is So Cute! I'll be licking the screen!
It's gonna be really good!

Oh my...

This is going to make Project Runway catfights look like preschool games.

I haven't been this enthused about a show since the sixth season of Six Feet Under.

Personally, I've grown a little tired of this type of reality contest programming. Season 2 of Project Runway was the last program of this type that I could stomach... But the all the on-screen, eye-candy hotness of Todd Oldham, Jonathan Adler and Kelly Wearstler are enough for me to tune in at least once. Also, I'm secretly hoping for an Amy Sedaris or Sandra Berhnard as a guest-judge sometime during the run.

Didn't HGTV already do this with their show Design Star?

Ok, I must admit that I can't wait. I love Project Runway and Top Chef and since I like home design more than clothes or food I'm sure I will be staying up way too late watching this on Tivo.

I am really excited. I am a huge fan of both Jonathan Adler, and Kelly Wearstler.

Does anyone remember that Oldham HGTV show 'hand-made modern'? Ohmigod that show was breathtakingly awful. It should have been called 'When Crafts Go Bad' or 'Crafts that Kill!'. He may do OK here as long as he doesn't get ahold of a glue gun and some rope. Then be afraid ... be very, very afraid ...

Does anyone know anyone participating? I would love to know how they went about doing a casting call and choosing the contestants.

All the judges and host Todd Oldman have great design savy in my opinion but what I am really curious to see is their personalities.

I have seen Todd Oldman on TV and once met Jonathan Adler and they are very cool and down to earth. Kelly Wearstler I highly admire design wise but she seems to exclusively work in the very high end of interior and product design and this could really play out in her viewpoints. All in all we will just have to wait and see.

If you think fashion takes itself too seriously, try interior design, am I right!?

I can't wait to see this - love the selection of judges, Todd will make a great host, and Jonathan Adler - I'm thrilled.

I'm especially excited it's on Bravo, they do a great job keeping reality television as addictive as possible mixing talent with complete wacks, so it should be fun.

I thought it might be fun to try out... (NO chance of getting anywhere when I see how much better talent there is AT)... but what the hang... there is NO info on how the selection is done. I emailed BRAVO and got a standard Bravo is busy check out our website response. Perhaps you have to be be friend??

joe, design star was a good idea that was poorly executed. top designer, has an impressive list of judges and host, also it is produced by the people from emmy nominated project runway. i read that this show is being taped in l.a.

I already applaud the new show because it has brought out the hilarious in these posts, and made my morning. Maxwell may have to make the weekly "dish" on the show a regular item. ;-)

I also agree that the talent line up involved in this project will (hopefully) put the dreadful "Design Star" to shame. The logistics of pulling of an interior design, however, are much more complicated than that of the design/sew process; I am curious to see how they will make the set-ups work.

I too adore Todd and would watch almost anything he hosted! And three cheers for bringing Amy Sedaris into the fold.

Arrgh! I admit I watched some of HGTV's Design Star and was pleased that the final winner was the most talented and nicest person in the group, but the show overall was a horror. I don't think this show is likely to be any better and I hope no one watches it.

TODD OLDHAM! Excellent choice! Love him. If this show is as good as Project Runway I can't wait! Yes Amy Sedaris should make a guest appearance for sure!

I love Todd Oldham but I just watched the premiere episode of Top Design and he needs some help with reading his lines! Every single line is delivered so stiffly, with the exact same intonation over and over again...it really bums me out because I've seen him in other television appearances and he seems so vibrant and comfortable in those. What happened?? Top Design makes me cringe every time Oldham shows up!
