At last years Dream Home, one of the top ten trends we saw emerging were gold metallic accents in the kitchen, for cabinetry hardware, faucets and flatware. We are wondering what you think about a goldtone place setting - hot or not?

reminds me of the 80s

Yes, the 80s Trump/Reagan look is something to be wary of, but the lines and the brushed satin finish give this setting a nice contemporary look.

I know someone who would like these:

bit too ancien regime for even my tastes, but I agree the actual lines are good.

I love the shapes, too. The gold isn't my style, but I know it would look awesome with certain place settings.

The look is updated from the last time around. I think it could look fresh in the right context.

Matte and bronze-y, hot.

I think it would look great with other gold tones mixed with burnt reds and oranges.

I am a Classic sterling silver guy.
I would rather have beaten old multi pattern sterling silver than anything else. Hey , that is what i have. Lucky!

Gold flatware is just wrong. Don't know why.

who syas silver/ chrome isn't a fad thats quickly running out of time-who cares what is or is not a fad...if you like it buy it...if not then don't; at least we're finally getting some more options in design apart from wenge, microfibre and chrome!!!

Totally HOR! Especially when its not too shiny. If anyone has ever been to NAN- Thai food restaurant in Atlanta (you must go! It's delicious! Gorgeous interiors!), then you'll see just how beautiful it can be!

I think it depends on the form. I bought a set of brass flatware on a trip to Thailand that I love. Instead of cluttery stuff, I try to buy something on trips that I can incorporate into my home. Art, dishes, textiles...I want to be one of those old ladies with a set of Moroccan coffee mugs and Haitian voodoo flags. :)
I digress...like many things, the form makes it or breaks it.
