That cane chair is not French tufted. Button tufting is different from French tufting. French tufting involves folds between the tufts as in this beautiful french antique. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a174/avecsavoirfaire/furniture/carbedbed2.jpg

Button tufting just doesn't have the same depth and elegance.
