A drying rack is simply a smart item - saving energy (or trips to the laundromat!) it's one of those "green ideas" that has been around forever but that had fallen a bit out of favor. They seem to now be gaining popularity and are available once again. Kate had her eye on one but, in an effort to be thrifty, decided to build it herself....
...and did so, very successfully!
It is a wall hung-folding design made from some simple supples (Kate gives a complete list) which came in at around $25.

I like how the rack becomes a decorative element in the room when it's folded up too. It's much prettier than a drying line or simply draping stuff over chairs, radiators and the shower curtain bar, though not nearly as cheap and practical. You can't use this to dry an entire load, just undergarments and other delicates.

Very pretty and clever.

The color of the back board is very elegant - it looks like the color of the edge of glass.
