Amy Helfand is an artist (and a Chicago-girl now living in Brooklyn) who translates some of her work into Tibetan wool and Chinese silk rugs. She debuted a few new pieces, including the one above, Mt. Rogers Protest, at ICFF. Drawn to Amy's booth by the strong, confident show of color, we found her rug designs to be a mix of luxury materials, quality work and a truly unique sense of pattern design.

I like Tibetan rugs, I have one. They're wonderful. But these are just not attractive at all to me. I like modern art, but on the floor I think more traditional patterns are more pleasing. But that's just me I guess.
This is a traditional Persian rug on the floor and modern (Eric Waugh) art on the wall (and mid-century style lampshades on 2006 lamps).
