A Colorful New Orleans Home
House Beautiful

nola1091508.jpgThis home has a sense of style and life lived large. It's not shy or retiring - it's all about color - powerful colors used in subtle ways. It's pink and purple and green and melon and turquoise and plenty of other brave, beautiful colors. More photos:

Above the jump: "The Ella Altar" - a photo of Ella Fitzgerald hung above a French desk. Walls are Martha Stewart's Grisaille for Sherwin Williams.

nola3091508.jpg The walls in the living room are Benjamin Moore's Driftscape Tan, a mauve tone.

nola5091508.jpgVenetian mirror and blue commode.

nola6091508.jpgGray green sitting room with a blue green secretary.

nola8091508.jpg Mahalia Jackson portrait by Richard Thomas in the dining room. The chairs feature a toile called Louisiana Purchase.

nola7091508.jpgGreen walls are Benjamin Moore's Castleton Mist.

We love the look and had to share it as a little bit of color inspiration for the upcoming Color Contest here on AT (yes, it's that time of year again - details will be posted soon!). Designed by Hal Williamson for a client who loves "Pucci. Painted furniture. Parties." - he says the house "looks a lot like her".

OMG. That's so beautiful it hurts. New Orleans has a style like no other city in America. It's flamboyant and bohemian and tropical and Old World elegant all at once.

You really should have an AT N.O.

very New Orleans, though a bit more polished than interiors there usually are.

I have been wanting an AT:no for a long time. I think we have a lot to offer down here that is very different from the other cities represented.

I am obsessed with the paint color in the dining room. The designer said it was a Martha Stewart color but I can't seem to find/match it! Does anyone know?

I'm obsessed with the Mahalia Jackson portrait by Richard Thomas. Where can I find something like this? An amazing silk-screen with an icon like this?
