An Imagined Life: Outside and Broken

20080612busted2.jpgAll used items come with a story to tell. We only need to lean in and listen.

I can't believe they left me out here...on the curb...in the gutter. Never thought it'd end like this...owww, I can't...I'm not makin' it through this so I need you to listen.

Tell 'em I loved the way...agh...the morning light washed over the kitchen. Tell 'em that my favorite was "Taco Night," with all the bowls of cheese...and tomatoes. Tell 'em..

20080612busted1.jpgTell 'em that I never minded the scratches because it meant I belonged. I was part of their life. I was fine with mail piling up and dirty dishes and...

But this is it...there's that light...and this hurts so bad. Just hold my leg, let me feel you. Know that...

...Just tell the chairs that I loved them.

Reminds me of that old Ikea(?) commercial with the lamp on the corner. There's sad music and a voice-over lamenting over the poor lamp. The last line is something like, "Why are you so upset? This is a lamp. It has no feelings."

Still, I like to superimpose my own human feelings onto my inanimate objects. My TiVO talks to me a lot, as does my fridge.

That is just too damn sad.
It's a good thing it isn't garbage day here...

I wish I could get my hands on those pieces. I'd remove the leaf mechanisms, mount them to the wall with L brackets and have desks for my kids' room.

Someone needs to gon on a rescue mission before the garbageman takes them away.

I once saw someone that had left out their items for free with these adorable little signs as if the items were writing personal ads. I know I'm not doing them justice, but something like "quiet, bookish type seeks..." for shelving...
