AT on...Corks

081706corks.jpg

We're still considering places to donate corks (for art, furniture, or katie's great park district suggestion), and we're happy that several of you will be joining us in the effort to drink more wine and save those corks. In the meantime, we have cork on the brain. On a recent visit to Provenance Food and Wine shop, we loved how the owner, Tracy Kellner, inserted her handwritten tasting notes into corks.

081706cork.jpg Tracy found dozens of these on eBay, yet the idea is so simple: a single slit horizontally along the cork, combined with four small flathead pins (we're not exactly sure what kind) on the bottom, ensuring that the cork doesn't roll away. We think this would be great for name cards at large dinner events or even at casual wine tastings at home.

As for our cork donation plan? Stay tuned. We'll confirm a plan of action soon!

that's so cool you mentioned Provenance. a friend just mentioned it as a place to become my new wine shop when we move to Logan Square. very excited to check it out! i'll be ever so sad to leave my current shop, it's such a great shop and i've become quite attached to it (Que Syrah on Southport).
