apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Barcelona Apartments from Habitat

The other night, we stumbled across Habitat, a website advertising apartments for short-term stays in Barcelona. We ended up clicking around for a good half hour, ogling the tile floors, balconies, and ocean views. It brought us back to a brief trip to Barcelona several years ago when we were guests in an apartment on Passeig de GrĂ¡cia. The place looked just like some of the older apartments pictured above, with shutters that opened onto a tiny balcony overlooking the street...

Wow, it's like the one's over at Old San Juan in Puerto Rico. LOVE LOVE LOVE the wooden beams on the ceilings... Over here they're in a criss-cross pattern.

I would put up with white walls ANY DAY for a floor like that!

I loved the first one - then it went downhill from there...
...if it weren't for the views from the windows, some of them could be mistaken for room settings at Room & Board and IKEA.

The bathroom in Number 4 is the largest I've seen in Europe. It's the size of most European hotel rooms (at least in my price range).

@heather77...I'm with you! That is a HUGE bathroom and it's lovely. I've stayed in a hotel in Barcelona and the bathroom we had was lovely but about 1/4 that size. Did you notice that the bidet has a lid on it? That's the first time I've seen that feature.

AMAZING! How I wish I could have stayed at one of these lovely dwellings instead of my brother's college dorm when I visited Barcelona.

Most European cities have apartments like this available for short term stays -- it is much more comfortable and affordable than hotels, especially if you have kids. (at the very least, there are laces for rent by owner). A really good one we use regularly is Praguecityapartments in Prague.

These are amazing! Love the mix of modern furniture with vintage detailing. My fiance and I are thinking about going to Barcelona for our honeymoon. These would be perfect, especially with the price range. Thanks for posting!

Does anyone know of a similar company that does this in France?

I have close friends in Barcelona and Siges, and the simplicity, clean and calm is what makes this so special. Molly, I highly recommend this as a honeymoon spot. The floors and the ceiling is beautiful. I felt good just looking at the pics.

There is an agency called New York Habitat that offers furnished apartments in NYC, London, Paris and southern France. Not sure if they're connected, but it's a comparable service.

Yep, NY habitat covers Paris too. We've used them twice. Keep in mind that they just put you in touch with the owners and you have to work out all the details with the owners, not the company. We had one fabulous experience with a wonderful place in the Marias and one horrible experience where the guy forgot to show up with the keys in the middle of winter. So, it's hit or miss but you will save SO much money this way and really get to enjoy 'living' in the city.
