Before and After: Real House to Gingerbread House

Benita writes Chez Larsson, which is one of our regular blog stops. She just posted a great "before and after" of sorts - a photo of her real home (shown above) followed by her version of it done up in gingerbread and icing. Jump below for the "after":

We've never attempted to create our home in gingerbread - living in an apartment building just hasn't inspired such practices. Benita's project got us wondering...have any of you baked up a gingerbread model of your own abode for the holidays?

When I read the head I was terrified that someone had taken that perfectly nice contemporary and turned it into some faux gingerbread nightmare!!

Have to show this to my daughter...I think we have a new holiday project - our house is definitely made for it as it's a big A-frame :)

alas, i've never made my own house into a gingerbread space (second floor living without a yard, and all that). but i work at frank gehry's stata center at mit, and today my coworkers and i decided to attempt to make a mock stata for next year!

(it will probably take us nearly that long to figure out how to build something structurally sound using very few right angles - a challenge at which gehry only marginally succeeded...)
