Coffee-Colored Rooms
Inspiration Gallery

Black or au lait? We prefer our coffee and our walls with lots of cream in them, but every once in a while we'll be drawn to a deep brown room. While most of the rooms shown above are painted in an ultra-light latte color, there are some richer, darker tones in the mix as well...

We don't know the exact colors in the images shown above, but for a creamy latte color, we'd try Pratt and Lambert's Lambswool or Benjamin Moore's Pismo Dunes AC-32. For a deeper, darker brown, try Benjamin Moore's Classic Brown 2109-10 or Ralph Lauren's Armagnac TH56.

I'm afraid I think "coffee coloured" is just an alias for "beige"

What do people think of the lighter coffee with walnut hardwood floors? Too dark/boring? I love the coffee, but I'm not sure it would work in my space.
thanks!

may i just say that i have a coffee-colored living room (the color is actually Sauteed Mushroom, but same diff.) and i hate it. it's dull and boring and sucks in the tiny, tiny amount of light that my townhouse windows provide.

so, highly not recommended. unless you have sundrenched walls like the above photos.

I agree with idontdobeige; what you have described is an alias for beige. I was expecting a greater range of coffee colours. Not all of us are fans of cafe au lait, cafe con leche, and milk with a drop of coffee. Highlight the more robust shades of coffee along with the watered down versions.

My back living room was a coffee latte color with a taupe fireplace and it depressed me. I change it all to white and a airy blue grey, big improvement. The coffee palette really dragged down any color accents. These photos remind me too much of older Room and Board and Pottery Barn catalogs.

Now in this months Martha Stewart mag. they show her dining room in a deep taupe almost brown and it looks beautiful. I think it looks more dramatic if you don't go the typical route of painting the trim and ceiling white/off white but everything in one color deep taupe brown color.
