Color Combo: Black, White, and...

7-11-08colorcombo1.jpg

For today's color combo, we thought we'd start with black and white, then spin the wheel for bold accent colors. We love the way yellow offsets the high-contrast scheme in this room, so we went on a search for other cool rooms that do the same using orange, purple, green, blue, red, and pink...

Does anyone know where glass and brass coffee table in the first picture is from?

Forget the coffee table, I adore that curlie-cue bench!

Neat idea for a post. To jump on the bandwagon of asking where stuff is from: Does anyone know about the office chairs from pictures 2 [Blue accent] and 5 [Orange accent]?

Not sure about the blue one but the orange chair is the Saarinen Executive Armchair with Metal Legs. You can find these vintage or from places like DWR and Knoll.

I really do like the recent black/white trend for homes and also clothing. I was never into color schemes before, but B&W is so EASY, and just one other color really makes it look great.

Much easier than trying to pick a few coordinating colors.

I'm doing my bedroom in black, white, gray, and blue. I have a lot of trouble getting to sleep, and staying asleep. I'm hoping that the monochromatic scheme will be very non-stimulating.

yummy yummy on the black white and purple.

And the crazy last picture with the plaid wall paper juxtaposed with the medallions. I'd throw the black white and purple furniture and rug into the last picture, and call it good. :)

I love the B/W and green one! And the curlicue bench is awesome.

In general, I don't like the black and white look because it seems too contrived to me. It makes pretty photos tho.

I want to do a black and white room for my foyer, which is like, small living room/office and/or dining room. I kind of want to designate it something and put my "office" in the bedroom. It's not going to be as pristine (ok, sleek and chic and modern) as the examples, but it's a good inspiration. My grandmother used to have a beautiful patterned black and white sofa (kinda leafy?) that's going to give me some ideas also. Loved that thing.
