Color Combo: Gray and Blue

Blue and gray is a cool color combination that can be very soothing. It's the kind of color scheme you might want in a home office, a bedroom, or a bathroom: soft, subtle, and calming. Click below for a few ideas:

What is the bed with the stenciled tree panels, specifically the panels.

DahliaCactus, I found the info on those panels here: http://www.emeryetcie.com/en/what/furniture/sleep-dream/designs/baldaquin-simple/samples/01d.htm

Not sure I'll ever try it myself, but I'm digging on the petite silver chairs with flat seats in the first photo as bedside tables. Fun idea.

This is my favorite new combination. I'm so over chocolate.

quiltmaster, me too! I've replaced my love of "chocolate brown" with "deep slate gray."

Emery et Cie -- what a fantastic website! I love how it is unabashedly NOT modern! Very European, very romantic. Lovely.

We had our living room painted grey a few weeks; white moldings, woodwork & ceiling. The plan has been to add blue: curtains, slip cover for the couch, perhaps...diy. I love how the color makes the room feel warm with the strong daylight and cooler later in the day.
I put up the old drapes, chocolate, and they look drab. Will we welcome chocolate again in the fall?

So you guys have finally discovered Emery & Cie, eh?

We lived in Brussels for almost eight years, and one of our biggest regrets is that we didn't find out about them much sooner. As it was, we first saw their shop less than a year before we left, but we came away with a very lasting impression. The store itself is truly amazing -- if you're ever in Brussels, you should check it out.

But they do some wonderful layouts in various colors and prints, and my wife and I (with help from our decorator) are still trying to recreate the feeling we found in this one photograph taken from them where they combined just the right shade of purple with a light celery green and black accents.

They have a great web site, they mix and sell their own paints and prints, and they can do work for you on demand. We really love them, so please don't overwork or overwhelm them!

BTW, you know that "& Cie" in French is their equivalent of "& Co", right? And when the movie "Monsters, Inc" was released over there, they renamed it "Monsters & Cie"?

i was thinking of doing a grey-blue on my walls with white ceiling and trim-- and a grey mix tile rug under my black metal bed... but my wood floors are really warm. warmer than the room and board pic above. would the grey-blue be a bad idea?

This is my favourite colour combination ever. I just love the tone and mood it creates. Thanks for sharing that post. I have great ideas for my bedroom now.

i've done this color combination in my bedroom and i LOVE it. i added in a little cream too, to balance out my honey-colored wood floors, and a little black too. my friends call it my little french boudoir.

I painted my bedroom walls a grey-blue and while I was a little worried it could make things chillier in the winter, I've been nothing but pleased with the color. A good grey or grey-blue can be soothing with other neutral or make bright colors pop wonderfully.

Must admit I'm not a fan of this combination. The bedroom looks particularly dull. Like things brighter. This shade of blue and gray is creates a more pleasant environment:

I really love the idea of using gray in a bedroom. I just painted an accent wall of my room with Ralph Lauren Ambassador Sterling Metallic Paint. I like it because the shade is a warm gray with some reflective quality to brighten the room. I have considered accenting with blue and have chosen cream as the other main color.

I think that I might switch the accent colors with the seasons using coral, royal blue or yellow.
