Hotels can function as laboratory of sorts, allowing designers to try out ideas that may be too new, too big or too pricey for their residential projects. Through this process of experimentation over the years, select hotels stand out as a sort of design time capsule of interiors. Fulcrum put together a grouping of some of these classics from the Claridges (1893) right on through the W (1998)...
Shown above, left to right:
1. Claridges Hotel, London (1893, foyer redesign 1990s)
2. Hotel Du Palais, Biarritz (1893)
3. Morgans, New York (1984)
4. The Royalton, New York (1988)
5. W, New York (1998)
