Design Inspiration: Hawksmoor House, South Africa

Spotted in a recent Travel + Leisure issue (May '09), we were first struck by the budget price (doubles starting from $95), then by the room styles, heavy on refined patterns, blues, browns, clean lines and rich details. Located 25 miles from Cape Town, this wine country house sits on a 544-acre farm, and its rooms have kept many original details of the 18th-century Cape Dutch house...

I love the gray and green rooms - it's so hard to pull off a room that is mostly one color, but those two do it well. Great color choices all around.

likewise -- the grey and green rooms are so much more inviting and visually interesting to me than the beige-y neutral ones.
