Dining Rooms with Emeco's Navy Chair

1124_emeco2.jpg

Straight from Emeco's gallery, we see a few great dining tables using the classic aluminum Navy Chair. As featured in New York Home, the dining room above combines the modern classic with a row of traditional, turned-wood-legged tables to make one large dining table. The result is utilitarian but warm, too. See more dining rooms from Emeco's gallery after the jump...

We're often seeing the chair paired with heavy wood tables. The reflective aluminum material of the Navy Chair just balances well with heavy, blocky tables. A few more from Emeco's gallery:

Navy chairs rock. They're a versatile link between modern and traditional, with a little bit of that 40s nostalgic feel - yet sleek and clean. And (if you get the real ones) they are virtually indestructable. Don't get the cheap knock-off copies...they WILL fall apart in five minutes... and usually while you're sitting on them.

I have two knock-off navy arm chairs (from a garage sale, I think they're originally from NY) and they have been fine. I also have original navy chairs, which have had the same durability.

Does no one have a problem with the new chairs showing a huge EMECO branding on the back? I think it is awful and will never purchase a new navy chair because of this mark.

I absolutely love these chairs - always have - and have to comment on them every time I see them somewhere (including each time my girlfriend and I watch a scene of "House" that takes place around the staff table, to which she rolls her eyes - I've been accused of having a bit of a stainless steel fetish). It's as much about the timelessness and substantiality of these pieces, though, as it is the material. I love how well they pair with so many other constituents.

For what it's worth, I've never even come across a knock-off version of these - only the real gems in DWR. Probably better off that way, yeah?

I love my navy chairs except for one thing: they are too cold to sit on first thing in the morning!

medenver,

I haven't seen the "emeco" brand marked on the backs of their chairs these days. Is it etched into the aluminum? I wonder if it could be buffed out?
