Dining Rooms: Wood and White

One of our favorite dining room designs is the classic wooden table with pale walls and modern chairs. It's simple, beautiful, livable, and can be done in so many different ways. Click below for more interiors from AT and around the web...

I absolutely love this post. What wonderful inspiration.

Lovely, but I wish the dining room in the top photo had its original wood paneling (not painted white) and the white came from the table and chairs and sideboard. Seems a shame to do it the other way around -- paint the antique wood white only to have the brown come from pressed wood and taupe velvet.

Beautiful dining rooms. Not for people with children though.

Who says it's pressed wood? Hard to see that. It could be a beautiful rosewood table for all we know...

I’m obsessed with this combo myself right now. i especially love a substantial rustic wooden table with modern white chairs.

These rooms are terrific. I'm slowly decorating my first condo, and I'm using various shades of white with dark wood as a primary theme. It's very serene.

these homes are soooo nice and pretty...

SFGail...every child can be taught neatness along with cleanliness...we have colors in our home ranging from white to darks...and my son knows there are some places and things in the house he cant go with dirty hands or drinks and foods...i think its a great way to teach children responsibility in the early stages of life...

I've said it before and I"ll say it again. Wood and white or wood, white and black is a great combination! For people that think minimalism is cold, adding wood tones really soften the place. My place is in this palette. I'll have to take pics one day.

P.S. Thank you LUUVE for making that comment about teaching children. I can't stand to hear people always saying what they can't have with children. My mother kept a beautiful home with all of us living in it. There must always be rules. There are rules in adult life and children need to get used to them from the start. Geez, when did parents lose their backbones??

Can anyone tell me where the chairs are from in the first shot? Thanks!

White and wood needs to be skewed heavily to the wood, for me, or it seems to lack personality. White and wood and black, the stronger contrast really helps me appreciate it.

All white rooms, while dramatic enough for me to enjoy (Yeah, the issue may just be I don't like subtle or understated) are not something I see myself living with.
