Farmhouse Style Meets Mod Resurgence

We've been digging the farmhouse revival we've seen in the pages of magazines and catalogs lately (like these pages from Anthropologie's fall line). We're also fans of the current mod resurgence, but it's nice to have a more laid-back look to balance the streamlined lines of mid-century style. In fact, we love it when the two styles join in harmony, like the four-poster bed and pop stripes in the image below from Blueprint.

One of the things we love most about decorating is the way that seemingly disparate styles can accommodate one another. We love the mod look, but most people don't want to revert to the swingin' sixties. On the other hand, Shabby Chic can be a little too rustic. When they come together, magic happens. Pattern plus pop. Neutrals meet nature. The possibilities for cheesy alliteration are endless...

How did I not know that Anthropologie made stuff for the home? And so much of it is beyond gorgeous! Le sigh.
