Comments and conjecture are welcome in the comments, as always, but if you know the source of the photo - PLEASE don't tell. We promise to reveal it tomorrow, so please check back then for the answer.
Good Luck!
More Guess the Decade:
Looks very familiar.

The matting on the artwork screams the 90s to me.

The sofa and those 3 'stools' say now to me.

Something about the lighting looks recent - it doesn't seem like regular old light bulb lighting - maybe it's halogen? Makes me think 90s.

Hmmm, Let's see... I'm thinking that the flat screen t.v. at least says 90's or now (duh), but the sofa more says, now...
view sfteri's profile
Is that a flat screen, or a piece of art? At the earliest I'd say 90s.
And I'd also say it's a very unappealing room with poorly hung art.
view sally305's profile
I guess you're all right... it's not a flat screen... the sofa would be the wrong direction. I don't think the art is poorly hung either.

I went with 90's only because of the girth of the tv in the red wagon. Hard to believe TVs were ever that bulky even though that was the norm not too many years ago!
view LilyC's profile
Why do people offer the source? They said PLEASE don't.
Anyhow, I think current because the concrete floors only recently seem to have become appropriate for indoor home use and aesthetically appealing. Maybe 90's, but it looks too inviting for that somber decade.

What are the stones? I am talking about the larger piece of art on the far right wall, which seems to be hung with no relation to anything (although admittedly we don't see the rest of the room here) and the small piece with the black frame on the left. That one, in particular, seems not to work with the space--it's too small, too high, and distracting by that light switch or whatever is beneath it.

Maya Lin stone tables could of been bought anytime after 1998 I had one of the first installations. By the rest of the interior- recessed halogens, light wood, that grey wall all say late 1990's.

The colour of those pod tables on the right say 90s to me. So glad that decade is over.

I am very confused. It all looks so current... but I am remodeling our house, and building code does not allow me to have large openings in the rail for the staircase. So... !?!

teeze-
In certain parts of the country, such as the Southwest where I live, concrete floors have been standard since the 30's.

this all looks so height of the dot.com around 1999/2000.
view TheoJ's profile
This was a hard one. It would have to be at the very end of the 1990s or very early 2000s. Especially with the two obvious clues. I'm not distracted by the CRT TV. It sees to be an art installation, rather than for viewing.

This is a tough one, but my gut says 90s, mainly because of the color scheme used here.

That wagon on the left side is throwing me off. Radio Flyer wagons are more 40's-50's. I have a feeling it's earlier than the 90s.
view queenbee1230's profile
I can only look at the sofa legs, and for that reason said Now, though I think it's really close to the '90s...hmm.
view first5times's profile
It's clearly 1990's -
If it was "Now", that TV would be a giant flatscreen and the colors on the throw and stools wouldn't be teal, seafoam, mustard and maroon - they'd be powder blue, lime, lemon and orange.

i put down 1990's but it could easily be 1980's I think. the art on the right looks like a carrie mae weems photograph. i've only seen her works without mats. i'm just guessing this is a gallerist's home or a celebrity's home. someone who likes to collect... hmm.

Something about it says 80s to me, maybe the color scheme. It's definitely not "now" though. Check the TV in the little red wagon.

teeze, i saw your comment on a post bout canopy beds from a long while ago -- you said you got a canopy bed for much cheaper from some other source than the eco furniture site that was mentioned in the post. but, you didn't say where you got your bed for a more affordable price.
do you remember where you got yours? and, would you let us know?
i can't figure out how to email someone on Apartment Therapy, so just in case you see this, can you please email jplee1974[at]gmail[dot]com - i'm looking into canopy beds and can't afford the ones i'm finding...
thanks!

The cluster of glass bottles, decoratively placed on the floor would not have happened prior to 1990.
view Kit's profile
@ kit - that's exactly what i was going to say. i was a gaga for glass bottles in the 90's. LOL
also the random wagon just says "i'm trying to either look like i have some 'whimsy' or trying to show that a child lives here". very very 90's.

Those are the stairs they have in the kitchen set of absolutely fabulous. 90's.
