I agree, the cook top is exactly like the one that died in our place, built in 1957. (It was an awesome shade of aqua - cool to look at for sure). Certainly 50's in my book. Back when they had "Gold Star Electric Homes". Sigh... I miss gas.

Steel cabinets w/ black toekicks, Red countertops and half-round end shelves w/ Aluminum edge trim, striped linoleum floor, barkcloth draperies...

...it can only be the 1950's

I was all set to say "absolutely the 40's" until I saw the hanging pendant lamp over the dining table, which made it the 50's for me. Everything else says "Kitchen of the Future, 1947 edition" -- post-war hopes and dreams, but I don't think those lamps were in production until later.

I suspect this is an Armstrong flooring ad. Then as now, flooring companies featured the latest and best design elements. The Nelson lamp just jumps off the page. It hit the market in the early 50s. Stainless steel edging also fit that period as does the barkcloth drapes. But, usually AT's quizzes aren't that easy. I wonder if this is a trick question.

Definately 1950's era. My boyfriend's first apartment had a 1950's era kitchen. It had the steel cabinets, cherry red counter tops with aluminum edging. I loved that kitchen!

I'd say the latter half of the 50's in a more contemporary styled home w/ traditional design elements, the oven and stove were my giveaways, as is the red counters w/ aluminum trim as is the George Nelsom pendant.

I like that kitchen quite a bit BTW.
