Over the weekend we found two narrow hollow core doors at The Restore for $2.00 each. They are in the process of being transformed into tables to run along the back of our sectional couch (pictures to come later). What made them such a great find, was the hardware we already had on hand from previous projects. The plumbing fixtures we're using as legs have been used on table after table for close to 10 years now. Do you have a great hardware purchase that keeps on giving? Let us know after the jump!

I built a desk with leftover planks my wife found somewhere, and couple foot long 1/2" bolts and screws. Looks very modern and horizontal. Yes good hardware, like good wood, lasts endlessly with reuse.

i built the exact same desk in the picture about 3 yrs ago and it is one of the most functional things i have ever made.
i use it for my music/studio station (monitors, keyboards and computer). perfect.

We repurposed the sliding closet doors from the bedroom as a craft table using ikea telescoping table/desk legs a previous tenant left behind. The smaller drop down linen closet doors were repurposed as shelves for paint and art supplies; I got bonked on the head by those doors one time too many (they were attached at the bottom and opened down and out--very dangerous), grabbed a screwdriver, and while yelling #$&!!!, pulled them off the wall. Best part: it was all free (except for the aspirin and the ice pack for my aching noggin).

i forgot to mention that due to the "hollow core" aspect of the door i wood glued 1 x 4's on the ends (that would be top and bottom width-wise) of the door so the conduit "feet" had a more stable anchor.

I have some board and bracket shelving supports that have been with me about forever. Not in use at the moment, but we might mount them in the garage. (Last house they were in a closet under the stairs for craft storage and over the washer and dryer for laundry products...)
