IKEA: Be Brave, Not Beige

051507ikeawindows.jpg

As a push for color among textiles, the IKEA website has launched the tagline, "Be Brave, Not Beige." With windows to tap on, you enter a virtual room where you can play with the color choices, browse the textiles in the room, and watch more films - all of which show folks drumming, exercising, and breakdancing (the beige lovers on the other hand are making giant rubberband balls, sorting socks, and need de-beiging in their lives...).

Their subway ads always stand out to me, and I keep thinking that I like what they're going for, but they choose such UGLY colors with which to make their point! Forest green and bright orange stripes?? Every single one of the alliterative ads (Flowers for the Fearless, etc) has an absolutely hideous textile for background.
