Inspiration: Plastic Bag Art

fleckcov72108.jpgAT’s Green Month has us doing more than just looking for recycled stuff. It’s rethinking what and how we consume and how we can reconsume and reconsider. Example: plastic bags.

Artist Virginia Fleck transforms the ubiquitous, nearly eternal plastic bag into something all about impermanence, the mandala.

Seeing familiar smiley faces, bullseyes, initials and other logos in a new context—even seemingly taking on the evil eye—gives us a new perspective into what the anthropologists of the future might see.

And it challenges us to say, cute reusable totes aside, what else can you make out of what you’ve already got?
