Over at Desire to Inspire, Midcentury Jo pointed us in the direction of a well known Australian interior designer, Marion Hall Best. While the images are obviously of a different era, the full-on embracing of color and glamour shine through.

We really like the use of white in all of the rooms - it doesn't read as a void in the design but rather as a concious choice of color.
The shiny ceilings (here and above) are a really unique treatment - we'd love to see this effect in person.
A bio we found on the web says that she formally trained as a nurse and then studied art, design and architecture by correspondence, going on to become one of the most influential designers of the time.
