Interiors We Can't Wait to See: The Darjeeling Limited

Full of inspiration. The look of Wes Anderson's films always drags us in. We have ended up loving (and re-watching) The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic and Rushmore, but it was the aesthetics of each of these that first made us want to watch. Buying dvds is not something we do often...we just don't want more stuff and rarely want to watch films over and over, but those three are exceptions to our rule. We think the The Darjeeling Limited is going to be the same.

We've anxiously been awaiting a glimpse at Anderson's upcoming film since hearing about it earlier this year and we just watched the trailer...

...and it not only made us excited for it to come out, but made us contemplate a small film festival at home this weekend.

The Royal Tenenbaums
We love: All the interiors of the Tenenbaums townhouse, especially that closet filled with board games.

The Life Aquatic
We love: The cutaway view of the boat, the abandoned hotel and the uniforms!

Rushmore
We love: All of it, basically.

We can only imagine that the beauty of India is going to be taken full advantage of by Anderson in The Darjeeling Limited - from the glimpses in the trailer, the pattern and colors are going to be a delicious background to the action.

Any other fans out there? Are you looking forward to the new one?

I love his movies too. Life Aquatic wasn't really all that great but every time it's on tv I end up watching the whole thing. This looks really cute - love Adrian Brody.

How brilliant is the casting of Owen Wilson and Adrien Brody as brothers? My two favorite noses in one movie!
If you haven't seen Bottle Rocket, you need to rent it right now. Might be Anderson's funniest movie ever and Owen Wilson's best role ever as Dignan.

Rushmore is pretty much on of my favorite movies (up there with the Big Lebowski) of all time, and I have to admit wanting a pair of those team zissou adidas really bad. I love Wes Anderson movies, but I am not sure if that is also because I think a Bill Murray appearance is a great move for any movie.

I just saw the preview screened before watching Sunshine (talk about amazing set design!). Beautiful cinematography is evident. Hoping this is less Life Aquatic and more Rushmore/Bottle Rocket in quality (it's all about Applejack and Kumar)!

I think the sets on ALL of Wes Anderson's films are fantastic. But, I LOVED 'The Royal Tenenbaums' sets. Eli Cash (Owen Wilson) had amazing paintings in his apartment. And the Tenenbaum's house? Incredible. I loved the paint colors throughout & I even loved the tent that Richie (Luke Wilson) slept in. I can't wait to see this new film!

I second that you should rent Bottle Rocket. Loved it AND bought the music from the trippy 60's band, Love, that was featured in it.

Quite possibly one of my favorite cinematic moments is in Rushmore when Max walks out of the elevator, in slow motion, as he's dressed like a waiter and just finished putting bees into Herman's hotel room.

His sets and camera work are always good, and the soundtracks are great.

Thanks Alex. Two minutes of Wes Anderson every day would be great.

These are absolutely my favorite movies...and the interiors are so wonderful...I agree Life Aquatic is not quite as good as the others, but when they give viewers a tour of the boat via a live cross-section...amazing....I can't wait for the new film...
