Lego Digital Designer

We checked out the Lego website yesterday on a whim and got stuck in Lego Land for longer than we expected. We stumbled across an online gallery full of digital designs submitted by Lego lovers. It was fascinating wading through the 3-D models of Lego dream homes crafted by devoted fans. The building shown above was designed by tthuma based on a Miami hotel. This and other fan-designed models are available for purchase through the Lego site.

 
 

You can even design and purchase your own Lego creation if you download the Digital Design Software. Apparently, this has been around for some time, but this was our first visit to the Lego gallery. Here are some of the other models that we liked...

While my other play buddies were using their Lego's to build cars, monsters, and other little boy type things... I was designing and building houses by the hundreds. Given that it was the 70s, they mostly looked like Mike Brady type designs...

My favorite thing to do with Lego as a kid was to sort them by size and color. Apparently my parents were sure I'd become an accountant...
