Loft Inspiration from Atelier In Situ

The Casgrain Residence by Atelier In Situ is full of lofted balconies that contain the private spaces of the home. The one pictured above is a bedroom over the kitchen. It can be curtained off for additional privacy and to block out light...

0919_insitu4.jpgOther lofted spaces are above the library and office. Each lofted "room" is finished in a darkened maple, uniting all the balconies throughout the space.

The balconies work well to define the home's uses: private spaces are lofted, semi-private spaces have lower ceilings and are located under the lofts, and the most public spaces have full-height ceilings and are out in the open.

This home doesn't appear to be lacking when it comes to space. However, it can still offer inspiration to those of us who want to come up with solutions for small footprints and high ceilings. See more photos and the project description at Atelier In Situ.
