We think Maira Kalman is the best. We love love love so many things about everything she makes.
Her childrens books are well read in our house (Next Stop, Grand Central!) and her illustrated version of The Elements of Style is simply wonderful. She did an amazing monthly blog for the Times that we really enjoyed. It's title is "The Principles of Uncertainty" and it is all paintings and hand lettered text.
Thank you for this wonderful link! Kalman is whimsical and inspiring. One question: where are the images you found? They didn't seem to be in the October/November entries.
