Minimalist Spanish Apartment

Browsing the European Real Estate Network, we came across this two-bedroom apartment in Valencia, Spain. At first, we thought it looked like a nice enough space, but on closer inspection we noticed some beautiful details...

The hardwood floors have a rich color and pattern, and the wide plank design adds to their appeal. A slanted, double-height ceiling with exposed beams adds some texture up high, while simple Roman shades don't detract from the large windows. The sofa and armchairs sport a subtle woven pattern, and the throw pillows have studded trim along their edges. In the bathroom, a frameless mirror hovers over a sculptural faucet and a continuous white countertop morphs into a sink. It's a spare aesthetic, but its cleanness highlights special details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

The more I think about minimalism, the more it seems a bother to live that way...somehow counterproductive. I admit that it often makes for nice eye candy, and sometimes there is a zen vibe that appeals to me...but I do wonder if minimalism exists just for the sake of minimalism...don't know if I'm making any sense...just a thought.

Yeah, too boring for me personally...sterile. It doesn't feel comfortable or homey at all, more institutional. Beautiful bones, but needs some color and personality!

Now that is a Minimalist space with a capital M! Shows like a nice rental with no personalization.

There is minimalist and there is bare. Too unfinished looking.

Gorgeous floors. Looking at the site, it appears that the place is simply staged for sale - I hope the future owners add a splash of color somewhere... and some art on those bare walls.

Can anyone tell me how to get that floor finish? I've been wanting to do something similar. Is it just an oiled floor?

And for a splash of color, we'll add some khaki!

Boring and bland. It is more 'new office building' than 'Zen'.

Looks nice in that gallery kind of way - but to live in - seems so sterile and cold.

I like minimal and these are my favorite decor colors. That being said, this place just misses any wow factor. It is somewhat boring.
