A couple of weeks ago we disected Ligne Roset's Mod Victorian roomsets for ideas, and today we're looking at another stellar example of this mishmash of styles that popped up recently on Yatzer: Casa Orlandi by Sabrina Bignami. In this Tuscan guesthouse, patterned walls and floors contrast with simple, white furnishings...

The traditional decor in this 18th century home is not strictly Victorian, but rather a mix of older styles woven together over time. Painted with frescoes and covered with patterned tile, the house is so rich that it would risk visual overload if not for the more subdued furnishings.

Architect and owner Sabrina Bignami tells Yatzer, "The Italians are great at ancient and are also great at modern interior design but they are not so hot at usually mixing the two!"

"I am an architect who specialises in restoring period building[s] and the next time I'll start with another project in France like this...to give another life to old houses and to save old properties from ossifying."

This place is amazing. Can I please live here or at least come and stay for a little while? Very beautifully done. Makes me want to live in Europe again.

The crisp white Saarinen furniture and Flos lamp make the frescoes look dingy and tired, and that bed looks like a square peg violently jammed into a round hole. The last photo shows a more comfortable balance to my eye. The smokey colors and surfaces work together even though they are a collection of vintage and modern.

Stunning. The kitchen especially.
It's so Italian, yet such a departure from typical Tuscan style.

Oh I think it's gutsy and romantic (but I wish the hand pair in the kitchen wasn't there). I thought I'd been neutraled to death these past few years, but these combinations seem new to me. These are pretty captivating.

Looks beautiful, but no one who cooks on the stove burners would have a large mirror behind it. Or keep it clean...

so very Italian... love it... wish we knew the owner and were lucky enough to be invited to stay over...

I love most of it, but that kitchen makes me think of the bunny boiling scene from Fatal Attraction...something about the mirror and the hands, dunno.

Strange that this style would be called "Victorian"âwhen the architecture predates the style by many years and it doesn't look Victorian at all to me. Is the word used in a general wayânot meaning specifically Victorian?

A lavish, grand home furnished at Ikea! Doesn't do it for me...

i like it for the most part. i just wish it had more comfort or softness. i don't see any comfortable seating or rugs on the floors. it looks kinda cold...in both senses of the word. it also seems a little odd that there are two sets of saarinen style tables and chairs. a little too much of the same thing.

the kitchen freaks me out...whomever lives there must not cook very often...

This place is absolutely amazingly beautiful with the exception of the bed and the closets...the clothes should be displayed around the home on ornate hooks so it feels like artwork.

Not a fan. I think the bed looks especially awkward.
