Mondrian-Inspired Pieces

Whether you love or hate his work, Mondrian's presence is still felt in many places -- particularly in the world of design. The straight line, the use of primary color; here are a few pieces which acknowledge the work of Dutch neo-plasticist painter Piet Mondrian. Check them out below the jump:

The Source Perrier offers a set of lacquered stationery and pencil boxes in the signature Mondrian motif. We can easily picture these in someone's bathroom, however, instead of just holding pencils and paper.

The Mondri vase, by Frank Kerdil, is bit more esoteric. Perhaps it's the photo so while we're not quite enamored with this piece, we do think the option of using the vase vertically or horizontally is somewhat interesting.

The Pivot Screen, designed by Jacek Ostoya for Mebel, is a room divider with interchangeable frames. Insert translucent or opaque glass frames to your liking to create a look that suits your room best.

The aptly named Piet, by Al & Jo, is part of their Cabinet Collection. The Piet is a limited production item with only ten being made.

Finally, there's CB2's Mondrian Media Console. Clearly inspired by Mondrian's lines, the console's use of primary color, with its red powder coat finish makes it pop.

Tables, dressers, boxes -- we wonder what Mondrian himself would have thought about real, functional objects being adorned with his "look".
