Pantone Fashion Color Report for Spring 2010

To celebrate Fashion Week from afar, we went to a matinee of the documentary about Vogue yesterday. As we watched The September Issue (loved it, especially the scenes featuring the work of Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington) we reflected on the tight link between the worlds of fashion and interiors...

...invariably, as styles and trends move to the forefront in one of the two areas, it influences the other, creating a bit of symmetry between how we dress ourselves and how we dress our homes. One of the areas where inspiration seems to travel the quickest is color, so with this in mind, we found the Pantone Color Report for Spring 2010 of interest.

Can you imagine any of these "fashion forward" colors making the transition to interiors at your home? Any favorites?

Sweet! I guess if you wait long enough colors cycle back around. I already have 2-5 on my home walls ;-)

hm, does one repaint then every single year (or worse yet, every single season) just to remain au courant? more and more i catch myself thinking that i want off this hamster wheel of thoughtless consumption and change for the sake of change.

Damn it, I just painted the nursery turquoise and I wasn't trying to be trendy. My baby is doomed!

Well, given that they've got the three primary colors (in exactly their true colors, at least on my monitor), I'd imagine that, yes, people will be incorporating them into their interiors. ::grin::

The other colors look kind of grayed and mushy (and suspiciously 80s) to me, and not particularly spring-like. It will be interesting to see how they actually show up in clothing.

Painting the living room to look like a three day old bruise would be ugly. One hopes this will be a short lived trend!
