apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Paper Tube Stairs from the Paper-Brick House

0730_tube01.jpg

We've showcased countless cool stairs here at Apartment Therapy. Here's yet another to add to the books: it's a stair made of paper tubes, found in a project called the Paper-Brick House...

Designed by China's Li Xinggang Atelier, the Paper-Brick House is made of paper boxes and tubes. The temporary structure was erected as China's pavilion for the Venice Architecture Biennale 2008, with a theme of "ordinary architecture". We love how these ordinary materials have been composed to create anything but ordinary architecture.

See more of the house and its cool stair at archiCentral.

Hmm, I must be in a bitchy mood today. I would have said that you've shown a lot of really *weird* stairs on AT.

A paper house. Hmmm, makes my "tenderbox" Eichler feel almost fire retardant.

It looks sort of cool but if you did this in the U.S. I can't help but think you'd have to prepare to be sued by all the people that fell on your stairs...I'd never make it on those in my heels...
