We ran across Ngoc Minh Ngo's site today. A talented photographer, she has done work for Martha Stewart Living, Real Simple and Elle Decoration UK. We thought that this beautiful bedroom that she captured deserves a closer look:
The ingredients that go into this style mix:
Gallery white walls and a simple concrete floor let the furnishings and art shine
Big, totally oversized (possibly Pucci ?) pillows make a statement on the bed and easily replace a formal headboard
The cowhide rug echoes the brown/black accents elsewhere in the room (lamps, dresser)
The scale of the bed is big, bold and cushy
Artwork (that looks like it could be by Alexander Calder) which repeats the color story from the pillows is placed casually on the floor next to the dresser
A great cluster of framed photos and prints takes up the whole side wall - the varied frames add visual interest
A plummy purple quilt adds just the right slightly discordant note to the orange, black, brown and white theme
A retro-ish standing lamp in chrome works well with both the black and white photos and the mirrored piece hanging above the bed.

This is a very cool room. I wish I had the space for it...

like the arrangement of art on the wall -- comes across as being a bit cold without actually being unwelcoming

Very cool room, but I am not really a fan of "grouping" so many small photos. I would go for one very large piece or three similar pieces. Just me and my thoughts.

The pictures look great. I'm not a huge fan of the discordant color thing though. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like designers are trying too hard to be edgy when they do that, especially with a combination such as this specific orange and wine/plum (orange and purple can look great together, but these aren't working for me at all).

I like the room, but the angular scary mirror over the bed would worry me.

This just looks cluttered and incohesive to me .

Agree with Lisa Hunter. Dagger mirrors overhead wouldn't make for peaceful sleep!

I love the mirrors... I want them.... where do I find them?

Loving the floors...are they concrete? I'm really into the trend of brining concrete inside the home for countertops, flooring, walls, etc.
Plus, the framed pictures on the wall are simply perfect.
