Recipe for Style: Shipley & Halmos Office

2008-06-26-shipleyhalmos.jpgSo many good decor ideas in one space. The very home-y workplace of Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos is packed with style from top to bottom. Take a long look:

The ingredients that go into this style mix:

  • old fashioned desks
  • pure white walls with honey colored wood floors
  • eclectic artwork (lots of portraits, cool framed poster, photos and a fish!) hung in an even more eclectic manner (including some framed pieces lined up on the floor)
  • a large mirror used as the backdrop to a desk
  • lots of natural light
  • industrial style metal stair treads
  • funky modern light fixture reflected in the mirror
  • a big vintage schoolroom map
  • a simple work stool and a top of the line task chair
  • peacock feathers instead of flowers
  • ...and unapologetic stacks of magazines

Wow, that's great.

I love having "levels". I would spend all my time sitting on the shelf-y stairs. Who needs chairs?

This makes me want to raise the dining room side of my living area by a foot.

oh love! and can i take them home, too?

by the way, anyone notice how nicely the view through the windows works with their place?

I would spend my whole day worried about falling down those stairs.

OK, I don't really see what's so exciting about this.

Are we going back to sunken living rooms and other sunken areas?
