Since the 1930s, Airstream has been designing very small bedrooms for some of the tiniest homes on the market. Their trailers are a great place to look for ideas for closet-sized spaces (without wheels). Click below for a few small-space concepts.

The curtain leading to the bedroom in this DWR Airstream separates the area visually while taking up very little space. In a studio apartment, a curtain is a simple way to define the bedroom area and give it a little bit of privacy.

The windows surrounding the bed in this Classic Limited Model make the area seem much larger. Although it's not feasible to add windows to your apartment, an accent wall papered in an outdoor theme (like the Cavern Home Blackbird Wallpaper) could visually extend the space. Another idea would be to hang curtains on the walls surrounding the bed to create the illusion of windows.

This seating area from the International Ocean Breeze Model would work well as a sleeping space for guests in a small apartment. A daybed with storage underneath would follow the same concept.

Almost all of the Airstream models include cabinets above the bed for storage. If you don't have a closet or room for a dresser, it's one way to add space to put your clothes.

A wall-mounted sconce in this Safari Model provides reading light without a bedside table.

This is a good idea for guest rooms or childrens' rooms. Arrange two twin beds opposite one another. With bolster pillows along the wall, they become a pair of sofas. This photo is from the Basecamp Model.
I've secretly dreamed of owning an Airstream ever since reading "Skinny Legs and All". If I owned one as lovely as these, I could stop feeling embarrassed about my obsession!

Another who has loved Airstream's for ages (with no embarrassment). I may well own one too in a few years!

My boyfriend and I dream of the day when we're done with school, have real jobs, and can travel the country in an Airstream.

Shayshay213, as a person who is done with school and has a real job, I am confused by your dream--how will you travel the country in an Airstream whilst maintaining said employment?

These are great! We're in the market for an old, gutted Airstream now, and plan to turn it into a mobile studio (I'm a writer, my partner is a designer) and hit the road for a few years.

Hi -- sorry if this is spammy, but anyone interested in actually owning one of these -- we have two and expect to sell one in the spring -- It's a 1968 26' Airstream Overlander. It was our first home in California... maybe that's how ShayShay123 is planning it -- we worked from the road. E-mail for info, or I'll just post it in the classifieds when it's ready to roll.

I am a really big Airstream fan too! I cannot believe how rare the Airstreams are here in the NE. I have been coveting one for quite some time. Hey the husband got a small sailboat now maybe it's my turn!
BrooklynRachel are you really in Brooklyn?
Is the Airstream? I would love to hear more about it (and can't figure out how to contact you via email). Please contact me at marid22 at yahoo.com
