Those Nest-like Lamps at Bergdorf Goodman

1211_wearstler2.jpg

The first time we laid eyes on Kelly Wearstler's design of the Bergdorf Goodman Restaurant, we loved the bird references you pick up throughout. The bird-print DeGournay wallpaper and the nest-like ceiling fixtures create such a light, elegant atmosphere. Those nest-y lights are resurfacing in our minds now, as we approach the holidays...

We've seen a few winter decorations using twigs, and we're considering using twigs for some DIY holiday decor inspired by the Bergdorf lights. We think that a collection of fragile twigs laced with string lights could create a real show-stopper of a holiday centerpiece. A small one could sit on the table or a larger one could be suspended above. Think they'd be even more beautiful touched with a blanket of snow? Try making one outdoors!

There's something duck-like about those champagne bottles in the first photo, too. Love weird, unexpected connections.

I wish I knew where the chairs (both the blue, and the yellow and white) are from. The ceiling fixtures look more like sea urchins in the photos. Perhaps that's because the bird motif wallpaper isn't apparent from the photo?

I like them for a public space, but with furry pets, at my house they would be a dustcatching nightmare!

Soco--

You mean the Canopy Chairs?

Professionals like her use the Design Showrooms and have upholstery pieces made to order - Notice the little round "BG" monograms on the green arched-back chairs?

Thanks, bepsf. *sigh Must be nice! :) I've been looking forever for a mix between traditional and funky (modern/contemporary), but affordable dining chairs. I may have to purchase some and reupholster in a fabric I like. I actually meant the smaller blue ones in the 2nd picture (their tops are showing in the first pic), but the I appreciate the link and love those chairs too.

Oh - Those blue chairs!
(I guess I was smitten w/ the others...)

Wouldn't be surprised if they're uber-custom too...
...After all, it's Bergdorf's
;-)

This looks a lot like the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica, only with a different palette. Beautiful, opulent, and with just the right level of whimsy.
