What would you do with an old bike rim? Perhaps it's in the garage or is one you had seen at a thrift store. If you said, "Build a rotating side table!" then you're thinking along the same lines as these cats, who have taken spare bike parts to the extreme in a great little diy project...
You'll need 3 bike forks, a bit of plexi, a few small pieces of MDF along with a few pieces of assorted hardware, but making this spinning contraption isn't out of reach for the average diy-er.
Don't be scared when the steps call for you to bust out some urethane plastic, as most don't have it on hand (or would know where to look for it) epoxy putty should be strong enough to hold fast! Plus, it can be found at your local hardware or automotive stores.
There's a great tutorial with pictures to guide you along the way over at Popular Mechanics.

Love the idea. I'd worry about the bike forks damaging the floor.

You took the words right out of my mouth, susang: this would scratch the hell out a wood floor!
Cute concept though- I'd love to see this as a display in a shop.

Me re: the floor.
But if we can get past that, i think it's a fab concept!

Reminds me of the infamous wagon wheel coffee table from When Harry Met Sally. Not such a huge fan.

How on earth would you get felt pads to stick to the two rounded ends of the prongs (or... whatever you call them!)?
This design would be twice as ingenious if they had attached flat feet.

You could always shove some of those rubber chair tips onto the bottom.

Love it!
You asked, what to do with an old bike rim? One of my to do diy projects is wrap fairy lights around an old bike rim and make it a chandelier. :-)
