hm, nice look until dusting time. i am moving further and further away from decorating with dust-gatherers since for now i sadly lack servants.

Typewriters have great visual appeal, work well as artifacts, and are still functional -- assuming one can find ribbons! I very much doubt that people will be displaying vintage computers in the future!

i LOVE LOVE LOVE my typewriter.

I have a Royal Quiet Deluxe from the 30's and I love it (similar to pic 8). I got it for a steal at a tag sale. It's so much fun to type a letter to a friend and it's still pretty easy to get ribbons.

I'm against the idea of using functional items as purely decorative items. Sure, they're attractive, but it looks silly to put typewriters on side tables or bookcases just to attain a certain 'look'.

"I'm against the idea..." RIDICULOUS. Reminds me of the absurd adage "people who generalize should be shot". On the one hand typewriters are for those who write- so if you write, by all means celebrate the beauty of the tools of the trade. On the other, if you are a poser and want to look intellectual or steeped in objects rich with history and meaning than good luck, but you will still be a poser.

I was stating my personal opinion, not a generalization, which is why I said, "I'M against the idea..." Jeez.

I was lucky enough to aquire the type writer that my great grandmother once used. I am grateful for the suggestions as to how to display it in my home. Also I would like to share with anyone interested that using cans of air works like a charm to do the dusting.

I like sometime to see my red Valentine, it's remembering me my best friend's mother... her red Valentine and blue old Cox...
