In China, red is a lucky color. Here in the west, it's thought of as strong and aggressive. All of the homes above use red in different, but equally intriguing ways. It's a great color to use on a front door, creating a bright and bold first impression. It's more commonly used as an accent in rugs, textiles, and furnishings, but if you're really looking for a way to make your home stand out, you might consider using red on the floor. We love the way the dark red floors look in Paola and John's home and in Chicago's Wo Hing Society.

When did those "Keep Calm and Carry On" posters become so ubiquitous?

Oh dear. I hope this doesn't become yet another referendum on the KCACO poster.
Putting that aside, I do love the reds displayed here, esp. in images 5 and 7. And #4 is one of my all-time favorite AT images.

I agree, enough with that poster already....

Love the red here, and always love red with light blue.

The red floor in the last picture does not make me think of happy things, too much Dexter too much The Shining.

The first two look like Rhubarb, which was recommended by AT earlier this year; I painted two walls in my front hall in it and it makes me happy when I come home.

I used to LOVE the color red, but not so much anymore. It's actually sort of baffling to me because I have no idea why. Does that ever happen to you?

@LoriSF-too funny, I thought the same thing! Reminded me of the scene where the fake blood comes out of the elevators.
