As winter settles in and we look for ways to feel more at home in our nests, it's the little things that count. Fresh flowers, good lighting, a new set of sheets. But there's one thing we sometimes overlook in our tips for creating a cozy home...
...Music! We recently installed a record player in our living room. (We acquired it by trading our old speakers to a friend.) Playing our old, dusty albums makes our living space feel very cozy, and we love the sound of vinyl. When you're feeling stuck or down, almost nothing helps as much as good music.

or play your music on your own instrument -- guitar -- piano -- didgeridoo....

i find myself sitting in my eames lounge with a nice pillow behind my head, cup of coffee in hand, feet up on my low table, listing to records... it seems to be a winter thing!

If you are listening to vinyl then yeah, the preamp gets really hot. Can use it to heat the house in the winter.

Since I don't have a tv music is key. No room for the turntable type so it more digitally-oriented but still manages to create a sense of atmosphere. Couldn't live without it!

It's very relaxing to sit back and relax and listen to some tunes. I also listen to music all day long at work too. It helps me get through my day....but I make sure that its not too loud to offend my co-workers.

I love nothing more than a slow Saturday morning listening to jazz or folk music and cooking a big breakfast for me and my roommate.
Unfortunately, said roommate likes to turn the TV on, playing over-stimulating programs and commercials targeted at antsy kids.
So...I try my best to wake up before her so I can put on my music and wake up gently!

I always have music on... I can't NOT have music on (unless the TV is on). I sleep with music on too. It's a thing... I'm weird, I know.
