There are so many reasons why we're excited about Wes Anderson's interpretation of this classic Roald Dahl story, but the main one is the amazing level of detail that went into designing the stage sets, which have a nostalgic 1970s feel. The office shown above is based on Roald Dahl's own backyard writing shed, which he refused to have cleaned and, even now, remains in the same chaotic state that he left it, with pencil shavings on the floor. From the tweed armchair to the pin-ups on the wall, Anderson's interpretation of Dahl's world (both real and imagined) already has us hooked.
According to a profile of Anderson written by Richard Brody for the New Yorker, the style of the movie grounds the fantastical story in realistic details. The film's co-producer, Molly Cooper, told Brody, "Wes wants the references to be from the real world. A desk actually has a coffee stain, piles of papers, things you'd have in a real-world setting."

Wes Anderson signed the petition demanding the release of Roman Polanski, which means he is the supporter of an admitted child rapist. He has no business making children's movies and anyone who thinks that the Hollywood community's support of Roman Polanski is disgusting should boycott Anderson's films, along with those of Natalie Portman, Martin Scorsese et al. I'm thrilled that it's right around the corner. Love Wes Anderson. His films are so quirky. The dialog and casting is always spot on.
