This beautiful Wisconsin home by Wendell Burnette Architects reflects the style of the area. Surrounded by farmland with silos and barns, the home was designed as a rectangular box clad in galvanized metal. The large windows open up to a treeline at the edge of a field...

The home has several green features: passive cooling from cross-ventilation, concrete floors and thick masonry walls that hold heat during winter, and lots of natural daylight.

We love the way that storage areas add pattern to the rooms: shelves lined with books add color, while a stockpile of logs adds natural texture.

Space is well-organized with built-ins, modern furnishings, and bursts of pattern. A wood-burning stove helps to heat the home.

Lovely space; the aesthetics of the interior appeal to my sense of home. it just demonstrates once again that much can be done within a simple, streamlined shape and a lack of unnecessary ornamentation. This building could be easily duplicated by others without much difficulty.

I love the seamless concept and design of the long floating island/console. A very successful open floor plan where it's not just another kitchen-y kitchen island that *divides* a space/function, but rather a lovely piece of furniture that (happens to have a cooktop integrated and) *shares* a space. Beautiful job.
