Talk about a big difference from before to after! From literally a hole in the wall to a neatly finished beadboard backsplash. Head below the jump for all the pics, tools, instructions and VOTING...

BEFORE
Tell us the tools and resources you used for the project:
We used constuction adhesive and finishing nails for the beadboard strips, a chop saw and a plane for the cuts, and trim, caulk and paint.

DURING
Share step by step instructions for how you completed the project:
We measured the area we wanted to cover, then went to lowes and bought 2 packages of tongue in grove beadboard planks and half round trim. We cut the beadboard to fit, used adhesive and nails to adhere. The edges were caulked and trimmed, then painted with semi gloss paint left over from the cabinets.

DURING

AFTER
My problem with this is that I can't really tell what the situation was before - was it a passthrough with doors? What was the other backsplash? I didn't vote, because I don't have enough information. I would love to see more "before" pix.

I agree with Matilda - a better detailed 'before' picture or explanation of the situation would have been helpful.

agree with the above comments, but the finished product looks fabbo!

Looks good but you should know that painted beadboard is a real maintenance nightmare. It gums up with grease on the painted surface and those grooves, yuk! I have it and hate it.

That's mine up there- there wasn't really a backsplash before. The previous owners had put up a line of tile over the counter edge and the walls were very very textured. When the tile was removed the wall fell apart. Yes, there were doors to the pass through and we just removed those to make it more open-but I didn't really consider that part of the project- this was just putting beadboard up on the wall.
We don't have any cooking surfaces on this wall so grease etc... isn't really a problem for us- but I can see where it would be in a lot of kitchens!
