When I was a kid, it was popular to have country-style collections of wicker baskets and copper molds that would decorate the tops of cabinets and the walls of kitchens. (Remember Martha Stewart's 1980s kitchen?) This look has long since gone out of style, but it's still popular to show off more modern collections in the kitchen...
- 1 Shannon and Emmett's white dishes compliment their IKEA cabinets. Organized in a row, they add sculptural shapes and character to this streamlined space.
- 2 Utilitarian Ball jars look organized on a white shelf in B, Joe & Rachael's home. We also love the small detail of the lab beaker.
- 3 Kim's kitchen includes ceramic teapots and vessels to complement the Asian Modern theme.
- 4 Lisa and Clay update the old tradition of hanging plates on the wall by using a free-form pattern with bright colors.
- 5 Amy's kitchen is decorated with carefully curated pieces from Chinatown and discount stores.

Liking the white dishes atop the cabinets in the first pic, but wishing they were not so in-a-row. NOT liking the all-too-visible outlet strips below the cabinets.

umm really.. canning supplies are a collection??? whatev! I love those plates on the wall... i think if i remember correctly they used the gear at http://www.allplatehangers.com/Plate-Hangers to hang those. @mirandabee (this is becoming a trend) umm ya, the only cool piece in that line of white is the fiestaware pitcher on the far left. (too bad they didnt adjust the electrical conduit to be less obvious when doing the cabinets). teapots are awesome and can be way whimsical and less functional (and me likes it that way). and while i'm sure Amy is a quality individual, that looks like the shelf at many a thrift store.

@ubertimmo- I believe the arrangement that AT is referring to is the collection beneath the Ball jars. Ball jars are the standard for all storage in my kitchen, no formal canning required.
I love the plate grouping on the wall. It's so bold.

What's the collection in that last photo? It looks like five unrelated objects to me.
I like the enamelware (?) plates on the wall but the others are all kind of pedestrian.
