More Light-Filled Kitchen Renovations and Extensions

After our post on Dan Brill's kitchen extension, we stumbled onto another great resource for lovers of skylights and galley kitchens: the Architect Your Home site. Like Dan Brill, this site is based in the UK and features a gallery of "case studies" from renovated homes. The best part? Each project page includes info on the cost of the renovation or addition...

Site founders Jude and Hugo Tugman started Architect Your Home in 2001 when they "felt the time had come to address the concerns of homeowners who often expressed frustration over the lack of clarity and control in the traditional approach of employing an architect." It's an interesting approach to information-sharing, and one that can be very addictive. Each home is so lovely, it's easy to get lost in the site. I am not a fan of long gallery style kitchens. I cook so I look at them as to how I would actually use the space. I like the aesthetics of the first picture but like the last one with the island is more functional and opening up to a patio is pretty sweet.

I am liking more rustic these days and not so much this style.
