Intaglia

081006intaglia.jpgThe thing about Intaglia that stands out to us the most is the ever-changing window displays. 081006intaglia2.jpgWe've walked by the store hundreds of times on our way to work over a couple years, but never stopped in for a visit (just always stared in the windows). Finally, we checked it out.

The classic contemporary style feels very at home on Clark Street (just north of Diversey) in a way that seems like it will stick around for a while. This shop is not about trends, but about satisfying many general needs through solid design and customization.

Although we've never purchased anything, others have said that their Intaglia experiences were good ones. Intaglia was originally established in St. Louis in 1994 and now has four total outposts: St. Louis, Chicago, and two in Georgia. 081006leathersofa.jpg
The store offers furnishings for every room and is "affordable" (though we don't have any exact figures to quote for you.)

Anyone have some inside info?

I have shopped Intaglia for both my clients and for my own home. I really like their well-priced accessories and their rug collection. They're using a new rug manufacturer that has a good selection of 100% wool rugs that are stylish and not bank breakers.

The furniture is a lot like what you'll see at Z Gallerie and around the corner at Domicile. In fact, if you find that Z Gallerie has sold out of a piece (which they tend to do), check Intaglia as I believe they use many of the same suppliers.

My bf and I bought a sectional here. It took 6 weeks to get it, but now that I have it, I really like and I like the guys that work here. They're super nice and helpful.

This store is a joke, seriously. I wouldn't bother if you want an alternative. They carry the same manufactuerers as their neighbors and everyone else but higher prices since they can't buy in quantity. Just go to Pottery Barn or Room and Board.
